restless city is a film full of yummy imagery and warm cinematography. the story, written and directed by andrew dosunmu, is about a young-west-african immigrant navigating the streets of new york city on a moped. literally, that’s what it’s about. however, what the film lacks in storyline and plot, it makes up for with its intriguing aesthetic. cinematographer bradford young is a howard university alum and studied under iconic filmmaker haile gerima. needless to say, young is dope and won the best cinematographer award at sundace in 2011 for his work in pariah, a coming of age drama about teenage angst and sexuality.
